Strand Arts Centre

Strand Arts Centre is a not-for-profit charity that occupies an iconic 1935 art deco cinema building - the only one from that era still in operation.

A daily programme of new release, cultural and specialist film, plus some 35mm screenings, is complemented by other art forms such as literature, dance, theatre and music. Two of the screens have stages for live performances.

Artists including Van Morrison, Mercury Rev, SOAK, Malojian and Ursula Burns have performed there, along with multiple theatre groups.

The venue runs weekly ‘Stranded’ live gigs where you can catch both emerging and established performers at affordable prices.

The Strand also hosts weekly performing arts classes and creative workshops, and Screen 4 is a community space widely used for private events and fundraisers.
