Emmi Itäranta is a Finnish novelist who writes in Finnish and English. Her debut novel, Memory of Water, (2014) has been translated into more than twenty languages and shortlisted for several major awards, including the Arthur C. Clarke, the Philip K. Dick and the Otherwise Awards. A film adaptation, The Guardian of Water, is due to premiere in late 2021. She has also published two other award-winning novels, The City of Woven Streets, (2016), and, Kuunpäivän kirjeet (The Moonday Letters), 2021.
