Sound of Belfast presents

No Oil Paintings

Location: Half Bap Recording Studio
13:00 GMT, Monday 09 November 2020

Song n°1: Blitz

‘The song talks about the Belfast Blitz during World War ll. We chose this song as it mentions some famous Belfast’s landmarks, including Black Mountain, Belfast City Hall and more. We thought it coincided nicely with the Sound of Belfast festival.’

Song n°2: Something Like The Truth

‘In this current time of socio-political uncertainty, this song focuses on the increasing lack of humanity in modern society. It’s a voice to all our concerns about false-truths, fake news and how the media portray things.’

Featuring

13:00 GMT No Oil Paintings

No Oil Paintings are a vivacious, dynamic alternative-folk band from Belfast. Using typical folk instrumentation and four-part harmonies they produce music that’s a little wilder than what is often associated with the genre. The band switch and share vocal leads, each member playing to their own strengths and bringing their own style to the songs they shepherd. Expect to hear everything from swampy blues rock to straight-up country waltzes.
