Sound of Belfast presents
Song n°1: In a Dive
“In a dive” touches on growing up in Northern Ireland and feeling the effects of black and white thinking, of faith and conviction, prejudice and fear. It’s about my own journey in that and ultimately finding spirituality in the unlikely places and people, often not the places or people you would expect. It’s the discovery of those people and places that has allowed me to find a home in Belfast.’
Song n°2: Salvation Tambourine
‘Salvation Tambourine” is an older song, partly about the way it used to feel here, that you had to leave Belfast to be where things were happening - Dublin, London, New York, anywhere but Belfast. Part of the song is about that. Part of it is about my sister and part of it is a spiritual coming of age for me as I blunder and trip my way through a wasteland.’

By nature Duke Special is a curious person. He is curious about theatre, books, music, poetry, art, love, life, redemption, death, 78RPM records and most recently, gardening! All of this is evidenced by the variety of musical adventures throughout his career.
